Jaguar MKII 1962
Here at Fahren Autos we have a passion for classic cars and love to see them restored to their original beauty. We are a currently restoring a 1962 Jaguar MKII 3.4 in Cotswold blue.
There is something about the shape of a car that can invoke feelings of nostalgia and romance. Whether you are a car enthusiast or not, you cannot help but look again when a classic car from a bygone era drives past.
A classic Jaguar is one car, in particular, that is a head turner when William Lyons and William Walmsley started out in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company. In September 1935 the name of Jaguar was first used on an SS Jaguar 2 ½ litre sports saloon, followed by a 3 ½ litre sports model named SS Jaguar 100.
It was in March 1945 that the company changed its name to Jaguar Cars and established their name by producing a series of sports cars through the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
Their early cars from the 1930’s and 40’s have long sleek, curving lines. The style of which takes the eye along the body from front to back along a long chrome fronted bonnet to the rear of the car and a square backend end, which looks just as shapely as the rest of the car.
Jaggar has kept this distinctive long sleek line a feature in their cars right through to modern day. Jaguar cars have even enjoyed appearances in film and TV series’ such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, The Avengers, Morse and so much more.
The Jaguar MKII is a medium sized saloon car and was built from 1959 until 1967 with the long chrome fronted bonnet. This car has an ageless beauty and is going to be a pleasure to restore. We will be posting more pictures as the work progresses and invite you to keep up to date on the work
